KEXP 90.3

Ottawa radio sucks. I already knew that, but this really drives the point home.

Ben Gibbard and Chris Walla were interviewed on air this morning and played a couple tunes. It was streamed live, but I missed it, but that doesn't even matter 'cuz shortly it'll be in the radio station's archive. Their massive live in studio archive.

While I wait for them to upload this morning to the archive I'm checking out Brit Daniel from Spoon and Ben from his solo Home EP. Click the "Interview.wma" to get the whole set, the other files are individual songs.

DIY guitar and amp mods

Lots of cool tips and tricks at singlecoil.com
I've already done the four tone Tele, but tone bypass or swapping out the tone cap has piqued my interest.

Texas Boogie

A webcomic artist who digs wicked tunes and has a sweet Jazzmaster/Jaguar tshirt drooled over the Stilleto but this is more to my taste.

And I thought Mesa Engineering was just for 80s hair metal bands and only made 200 Watt behemoths with heavily compressed overdrive and scooped mids with sustain for weeks. (Seriously, check Spiders Corner.)

... As the Poets Affirm

Still kicking myself for missing this show at the SAW Gallery Monday. A buddy of mine who works Lauzon is gonna play lap steel with them now.

Old news from NAMM

This seems to be the only analog delay with tap tempo function. Brief mention here and I'm sure this guy did a rundown of great delays last month, but he seems to have revamped his site and thrown out the archives.

Rhymes with ...

Gibson's romantic notion of the guitarist as songwriter. Almost wish I smoked. Then I'd be cool.

Hit refresh to cycle through several promo images.

Super Octave vs Whammy

Super Octave vs. Whammy? Really not much of a competition. Boss can just do one or two octaves down, great for bass lines with a guitar - but the Digitech can do tons more (unintelligent) with pitch shifting. Its also the defacto standard pitch shifter, used by everybody and Jack White (although he reportedly used an EH POG at a recent show).

Oh NO!

Clap Your Hands and Say Yeah are playing Zaphods the long weekend, but I'm cottage bound.

Premiere

And not to be devoid of content - this guy has a wicked (if bland) gear page of some wicked bands (and a custom modded Silvertone Twin Twelve): Dan Wiley
